Amir Bogen

Film journalist, festival and program curator, academic scholar and public speaker

Bogen is a film journalist, festival director and program curator, academic scholar and public speaker. Amir started his career as a film, culture & sports writer, eventually focusing on film and becoming a veteran film journalist and critic, serving for seven years as film section editor at YNET, Israel’s most prominent and best read digital news outlet. Since relocating to New York City in 2017, Bogen transitioned to the post of YNET senior film & TV writer as well as NYC correspondent. At 2018 Bogen was appointed as executive director of the Lighthouse International Film Festival (Long Beach Island, NJ). Bogen was a two-term visiting professor at Wesleyan University (Silverberg Distinguished Scholar in Residence, Center for Jewish Studies). He is currently working on his PhD in film theory at the Tisch School of Film and Television, Tel Aviv University and is also developing a script for a sci-fi series.
