Assi Meshullam

Professor / Department of Fine Art, University of Haifa

Assi Meshullam is an associate professor in the Department of Fine Art at the University of Haifa. Born in 1975, graduated with a bachelor's degree in art and archaeology and a master's degree in biblical studies, with a specialization in the Phoenician practice of human sacrifice. Exhibited and participated in many exhibitions in Israel and abroad, and won several awards, including the Minister of Culture Award for 2014. The preoccupation with ritual, religion and archaeology is evident in Meshullam's work of art, which spans many fields, from drawing, painting and sculpture, to installation, video and digital art. Writing also accompanies his work, and he regards it as an inseparable part of his artistic practice.
