Jewish Religious Orthodox Film Researcher and Film Critic
Marlyn Vinig was born in Australia, married and mother of seven, Lives in Jerusalem. From early childhood Vinig wrote, played and directed for a variety of media outlets. In her military service she served in the IDF newspaper while studying at the Nissan Nativ Acting School.
Vinig has edited, written and presented for a variety of newspapers, magazines and TV channels, in the past decade focusing on culture and working as a film journalist and critic.
Vinig wrote various texts for cinema and theater, directed dozens of finals productions at higher education institutions (Jerusalem College, Faith College, Beit Yaakov Trail Seminar and more). She wrote and still writes, Scripts. As part of her social-cultural work in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community she established the first acting studio for the ultra-Orthodox public.
She served as a member of the Israeli Film Commission. She has lectured in a variety of universities, colleges, seminars and conferences in Israel and abroad. She took part as a judge at film festivals and served as a lecturer in a variety of public bodies.
She authored and published 3 books: "Orthodox Cinema", published by Resling and two poetry books. Vinig have three first bachelor's degrees, a master's degree with a thesis and her dissertation about the new female wave films of ultra-Orthodox cinema.
