Shapira is a comics critic and scholar with over a decade of experience. His reviews had been published in several venues including Haaretz, The Comics Journal and Shelfdust. He had academic articles published in works such "Ages of the Flash" and "Dystopia in the Age of Trump". Tom is also the author of two books: "Curing the Postmodern Blues" (Sequart, 2013) which explores the latter works of comic book auteur Grant Morrison and "The Lawman" (PanelXPanel, 2020) which dives into the socio-political subconscious of the comics strip Judge Dredd.
